"Research is creating new Knowledge." Neil Armstrong
Bio:
Dr. Siamak Mehrkanoon is a young research scientist, expert in the fields of Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Numerical Analysis. He is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Prof. Johan Suykens lab at ESAT-STADIUS, KU Leuven, working on the "Advanced data driven semi-supervised models and applications" project. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at CPAMI center, University of Waterloo, Canada, working on NSERC discovery project "Data mining algorithms for non-stationary data", at the lab of late Prof. Mohamed Kamel. He was a visiting scientist at the Cognitive Systems lab in the Dept. Computer Science, University of Tuebingen, Germany, Fall.2016.
Mehrkanoon is holder of two Doctorate degrees, in the fields of Machine Learning and Numerical Analysis. He earned his Doctorate in Engineering Science from the Department of Electrical Engineering, KU Leuven, Belgium in Jul.2015; Where he was working on the subject of "Incorporation of prior knowledge into Kernel based models" under the supervision of Prof. Johan Suykens. He was awarded his first PhD in Applied Mathematics from University Putra Malaysia in 2011, where he experienced the application of HPC in simulation of large-scale ODEs using Message Passing Interface (MPI). He has studied, worked and traveled across the globe; Asia - Europe - North America.
